“Never settle for anything less than love.”

- Fenelon

“Do you want to know the way of the increase of God? It is by LOVE. Love is the real spirituality that is spirituality. The measure of our spiritual life is no greater than our heart; the knowledge that is in the head is not the measure of spirituality, the way for your release, emancipation, increase, abundance is the way of the heart.”

-T. Austin Sparks

“No one can find God without love, for love given freely from the heart of His children is the only thing man’s Maker is seeking. He has everything else.”

-Paramahansa Yogananda

“It seems to me at length that the master-key to the whole Bible is in our hands when we come to this. The master-key to everything is love.”

–T. Austin Sparks

No one can put himself into union with God. It would not be possible, no matter how great the effort. The soul’s union with God is something God alone does.”

-Jeanne Guyon

“You can get someone to teach you things mechanical or scientific or mathematical like algebra or English or riding a cycle or operating a computer.  But in the things that really matter, life, love, reality, God, no one can teach you a thing.  All they can do is give you formulas. And as soon as you have a formula, you have reality filtered through the mind of someone else. If you take those formulas, you will be imprisoned. You will wither and when you come to die you will not have known what it means to see for yourself, to learn.”

- Anthony De Mello

“It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.”

-John 6:45

It is commonly known that our bodies are made up primarily of water.  Our hearts represent the totality of what we are – spirit, soul and body. A Japanese researcher has been experimenting with water crystals, and has made some interesting observations. I wanted to share two pictures with you today.  They are illustrative of the profound difference between the world (as represented by Satan) and Christ (as represented by Love).

Here’s the first picture:

Satan

This picture is of a water crystal taken after the word “Satan” was spoken. It’s not a pretty picture by any stretch of the imagination. It’s dark and ugly.

Let’s compare that water crystal with another one.

Here’s the second picture:

love and gratitude water crystal

This picture is of a water crystal taken after the words “Love and Gratitude” were spoken. What a difference!  The “Love” water crystal resembles a precious jewel – the crown jewel.

I believe we can use these pictures to illustrate how our hearts evolve as we progress from darkness (Satan’s domain) to light (Christ’s domain).  As it is written:

“As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man.” (Proverbs 27:19)

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21)

May you possess a heart of  love.

Christine and I had an opportunity to view the movie “A Beautiful Mind” again recently. It is one of my favorite movies. Seeing the end of the movie reminded me of the inspiration for the opening song on Sweetbird’s first CD, Free Spirit Reflection. The lyrics to the song, “Equations of Love,” flowed effortlessly after I arrived home from movie theater. I was greatly moved by John Nash’s Nobel Prize acceptance speech.

Here’s what Nash said to his wife, in front of the Nobel Prize audience in Stockholm, Sweden:

“I’ve always believed in numbers. In the equations and logics that lead to reason.

But after a lifetime of such pursuit, I ask: What truly is logic? Who decides reason?

My quest has taken me to the physical, the metaphysical, the delusional, and back.

And I have made the most important discovery of my career; the most important discovery of my life.

It is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logic or reasons can be found.

I’m only here tonight because of you. You are the reason I am. You are all my reasons.

Thank You.”

Ah yes, those mysterious equations of love. You won’t find them written down in any science book. You won’t find them scribbled in the halls of Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Oxford or Cambridge. No. You will only find the mysterious equations of love written on your heart. That is the realm that the Spirit, Who is love, operates.

As the Spirit said through the apostle Paul to the Corinthians, if we have not love, we are nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:2).

May your heart be filled greatly with love.

I came across this photo and wanted to share it with readers today.
